Hi! Thank you so much for stopping by! I think its nice to know about your professional photographer before you book one so here it is!
I knew from an early age that I wanted to do something creative with my life. I loved art and could spend hours in museums. In college I decided I wanted to use my creativity and turn it into a profession. I knew it would be a long hard journey but it’s what I loved most and I wanted to share it with others.
I studied fine art and photography at Purdue University. I developed my own film, printed my own images, and intently studied lighting. I received my BA in Photography and Fine Art in 2002 along with a complete understanding of photography in the raw. I understand lighting, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and how all of these things tie in together to give you the perfect exposure.
While at Purdue I learned all the ins and outs of Photoshop. And to this day I am still addicted to Photoshop. Once you get a creative shot with perfect exposure, pulling it into Photoshop gives you endless possibilities of making that image pop and giving it a unique quality. From adding texture to rich color, I know how to make your images dreamlike. In my mind, this is where the magic happens:)
On a personal level, I am a mommy, a wife, a friend, a sister, a cousin, an aunt and a daughter. I love my family, I love my friends and I think both are so important to have a healthy fulfilling life. I have a son- Henry, born December of 2008 and a daughter Ruth, born in December of 2010. They are my favorite things in the world and I am madly in love with them and madly in love with documenting them. One of my favorite parts of this career is being able to stay home with them, even though as I am typing this Ruth is crying and tugging at my leg. I love my pugs, I love food- especially anything spicy and I really love sitting at home in my pj’s lately.
I have an unbelievable supportive husband, Chris. This type of job is crazy and overwhelming at times. He is an awesome dad and often takes the kids to the park when he gets home from work so I can edit. He is funny, outgoing, and compassionate and loves our kids. It doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you Chris!
I am still and will always be on my creative journey. I am a perfectionist as well as an artist- it’s a dangerous combination. I am always looking for the ‘new’ and the ‘better’. I am constantly on the look out for cute props and I am always updating my equipment and trying out new techniques to keep my images exciting. The most important thing to me in my career is that I create images people love and cherish. It’s become a personal endeavor and I take it very seriously, I want you to love your photo shoot!
If you are thinking about booking a session please contact me! I’d love to hear from you and learn a little about your family. If you are on the fence about having professional photographs, let me talk you into it! It’s important; these babies are only babies for a short time but your photos will last forever, beyond our years even!
